cm.chemicals: 2023 update available now
This year’s update is our most comprehensive yet, covering over 95,000 datasets, 1,200 plastics and chemicals, and 200 regions.
But it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about how these updates improve the quality and actionability of data to help sustainability teams make a truly meaningful impact on the path to net zero. Here’s why:
More relevant and up-to-date data
Finding data on all your raw materials that really reflect the ongoing developments in the industry is the biggest challenge in any environmental impact assessment. That’s why we updated every single one of our 95,000+ datasets. This includes updated trade data, as well as production locations, volumes, and technologies, and covers the latest scientific findings on oil and gas production.
More actionable and impactful insights
cm.chemicals shows granular differences between production regions and pathways for chemicals and plastics. This helps you better understand your actual supply chain emissions, and spot concrete reduction opportunities. With our update, we’ve significantly improved the regionalization of oil and gas emissions data.1 While this data isn’t visible to users, it feeds directly into our environmental data to ensure a more detailed representation of real-world environmental impacts.
More harmonized and compliant methodology
To support methodological harmonization across the chemical industry, the updated cm.chemicals is now compliant with a new standard: the TfS – TOGETHER FOR SUSTAINABILITY Guideline for product carbon footprint (PCF) calculations. Following this guidance is a key strategy to achieve more comparable and reliable PCF results. Of course, cm.chemicals remains fully compliant with the ISO 14040/44 (LCA) and 14067 (PCF) standards, (TÜV Rheinland-certified).
