Ready to use carbon data that drives decisions?

Accurate emissions data for chemicals is just the start.

We help you map your emissions, identify reduction hotspots, and turn data into action.

Need data on your chemicals? We’ve got it.

With cm.chemicals, you get access to:

1,500+ chemicals and plastics — and growing

200+ regions — global, national, and site-level detail

ISO 14040/44 & 14067-compliant data, built on a TÜV-certified methodology

Production and consumption mixes + technology-specific insights

But data alone isn’t the finish line.

It’s where effective emissions strategy begins.

That’s why our customers choose the Emission Factor Mapping Service.

We take your supplier or product list and match it with credible, certified PCF and LCI data from cm.chemicals. Then we map, analyze, and deliver:

  • Your Scope 3.1 emissions hotspots
  • A coverage map: which of your chemicals are in our database
  • A strategy brief: where to engage, reduce, or collect better data

And yes — you keep the data for your internal reporting or sustainability claims.

(the best way to understand your emissions landscape)

Why Your Team Will Thank You

80–100% coverage of core chemicals for most clients

Fast onboarding — just send us your CAS numbers

No internal LCA expertise required

Supports CSRD, TfS, CBAM, and customer disclosures

What Happens in the Mapping Call?

This is a no-obligation, expert-led conversation where we:

1

Review your chemical/product list

2

Show you how well it matches cm.chemicals

3

Identify data coverage gaps

4

Propose the right data license

5

Outline how the Emission Factor Mapping Service fits into your sustainability roadmap

You leave the call with clarity — and a plan.

How it works

Our Emission Factor Mapping Service helps you close data gaps and address inconsistencies in Scope 3.1 emissions reporting by automatically mapping chemical substances using CAS IDs. This eliminates the need for time-consuming manual matching, providing you with consistent and accurate emissions data. If certain chemicals are missing from the database, we focus on closing those data gaps: we offer our modeling on demand services or, alternatively, provide similar chemical substances (proxys) with the support of our automated proxy suggestion tool.

Emission Factor Mapping

Automated Mapping Based on CAS-IDs

First, we identify all products in your Scope 3.1 inventory that have emission factors available in the Carbon Minds database. This mapping is based on CAS IDs, numerical identifiers for chemical substances. Remaining data gaps are addressed in the next steps.

Prioritization of data gaps

Invest in data quality where it matters most

Prioritize data gaps based on their expected impact on your Scope 3.1 results. High-priority data gaps are filled using our on-demand modeling service leading to higher data quality, while low-priority gaps will be filled with proxies

Modeling On Demand

Higher quality

With our Modeling on Demand service, we model the missing emission factors for you using our third-party certified methodology, allowing you to fill data gaps with representative data.

Proxy Mapping

Lower quality

For less critical data gaps, our proxy suggestion engine identifies the substances in our database most similar to your target based on molecular structure, quantifying the similarity. You can use these suggestions to select suitable proxies.

Success Story

If you want to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions, the first thing to understand is the carbon footprint of your products to have a solid baseline. Based on the Carbon Minds database, Avient managed to calculate certified Carbon Footprints for all its products.
