LCA Consulting
Your guide to
evidence-based decisions on sustainability
Emissions must be reduced in the most cost-efficient way possible. Cost-efficiency will depend on choosing the right strategy. Do you prioritize chemical recycling to reduce your environmental impact, or do you switch to renewable feedstocks such as CO2 or biomass?
The market leaders of tomorrow will define themselves by the environmental strategies they choose today. These choices should be rooted in data that is specific to your company.
That’s a hard task. Chemical databases often use industry averages. The data you get – and the decisions you make based on it – don’t accurately reflect the real emissions profile of your company.
Our database is different. It’s bigger, and more specific. We have data that is technology, region, market, and supplier specific. We integrate this data with your own data using our custom software.
When we combine our data with yours, you get an accurate picture of your emissions profile to inform your decisions.
Life Cycle Assessment

Marginal Abatement Cost Curves
Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) Curves combine data on cost-efficiency and environmental improvement potential. They are the clearest way to show decision makers which impact reduction strategies have the best balance between cost and impact. Learn more.
Three ways to evidence-based decisions
Life Cycle Assessment
The foundation of data-based decision making on a product level
Choosing an emissions reduction strategy becomes easier and less risky when data about the decision is clear and accurate. To get good data about the sources of your emissions and how to reduce them, we can perform a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
An LCA is a study of the environmental impact your product or service creates across its entire life cycle. We use the ISO standardized LCA methodology and our specific, wide-ranging data to perform these LCAs.
The result is not only the knowledge of what exactly is contributing to your emissions. It’s the ability to use that knowledge to make evidence-based decisions about how to reduce your environmental impacts.

Digital Twin
Clarity from complexity
No chemical is made alone. Integrated production and chemical co-production often mean that when you are trying to reduce the impact of one process, you will affect the emissions of another, connected process. This web of connected emissions sources stretches across production sites, companies, and their entire production and utilization chains.
If you can understand this complexity, there are opportunities for meeting emissions reductions targets with simple and effective solutions. But looking at how emissions reduction strategies can affect an entire site or company is challenging.
That’s why many consultancies try to make things simple by looking at individual chemical production processes, not the whole picture. This solution is an attempt to simplify a complex problem.
We don’t do that. Using our Digital Twin, we model the complexity and find the most efficient reductions within it. The Digital Twin is a computational model of all the connected chemical processes in your site or company, including the entire production chain.
The model is based on our own, highly specific dataset, ISO compliant environmental impact assessments, as well as economic data for both CAPEX and OPEX. The Digital Twin allows us to assess the impact of different emissions reductions strategies on your system as a whole.
You can see the impacts of both the best conventional technologies and novel technologies, like chemical recycling and CO2 utilization.
We then develop Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) Curves specific to your company or production sites. MAC Curves are the clearest way for you to understand and visualise which emissions reduction strategy will be the most efficient for your site or company.
Ultimately, we show you the most cost-efficient pathway to your environmental targets. This is how the digital twin produces clarity from complexity.
Marginal Abatement Cost Curves
Pinpointing efficient environmental strategies
Achieving your environmental targets must be done while keeping costs as low as possible.
You can combine data on cost-efficiency and environmental improvement potential for all the strategies you’re considering in a Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) Curve.
MAC Curves make it easy for decision makers to see the most cost-efficient way to reach your climate targets.
We produce MAC Curves using our “Digital Twin”, ISO-compliant environmental impact assessment methods, as well as a detailed economic dataset that includes CAPEX and OPEX data.
MAC Curves are the best tool for clearly understanding and communicating the most cost-efficient ways to reduce your environmental impacts.
